How it works

How Easier Now picks the task on your screen.

You add the tasks. Easier Now sizes them, works out the order, and puts the first one on screen. Nothing to configure first.

14 days free. No card.

One task, start to finish

Four taps: Done, the minutes it took, the points, the next task.

Tap Done, set the minutes with plus and minus, take the XP, and the next task loads. There is no step five.

Tap 1One card, then Done, Skip, Later and Log
Tap 2The dialog, set to 120 minutes
Tap 3Spot on, and 40 XP on the tree
Tap 4Level 77 in the header, and the next card already there

Step 1

Add your tasks, routines and Google Calendar.

Type "write social posts for three clients" and Easier Now files three separate tasks in the right projects.

  • Repeating routines are entered once
  • Google Calendar syncs both ways, with prep and travel time added
  • Bring an existing app across by CSV
One sentence in, three tasks out, each filed in the right project.

Step 2

The next task, with four buttons.

Done, Skip, Later and Log. Everything else waits underneath in Up Next until its turn.

  • Picked from every project in the app
  • Already scheduled into a gap long enough to hold it
  • Tap Later and the task moves down the queue

Step 3

Tap Done and say how long the task took.

One question, plus and minus buttons, and a Done to confirm. Guess right and Easier Now says Spot on.

  • No timer to start or stop
  • Estimate 30 minutes, take 50, and the next estimate is 50
  • Later tasks are scheduled on the recorded times

Step 4

The Daily Review lists what you finished.

Seven tasks, five hours twenty, and the minutes each task actually took. Anything left carries to tomorrow.

  • Your non-negotiables are ticked off separately
  • The XP for the day is totalled
  • Nothing to reset on Sunday night

What changes

What this is actually like to use.

The mechanism above matters because of what it does to your day.

  • You sit down and start working, instead of deciding. The choosing already happened. Whatever is on screen is the thing to do, so the first twenty minutes go into the work rather than into picking.
  • You stop carrying the list around. Nothing is waiting to be remembered, so there is no background hum of half-recalled jobs while you are trying to think about one of them.
  • The habits you keep meaning to build hold. A routine you miss moves to tomorrow rather than disappearing, so one bad week does not end the streak and send you back to the beginning.
  • You know where your hours went. Every task is logged as you finish it, with no timer to start. By Friday you can see what the week cost you and what it bought.
  • You finish the day knowing what you did. The Daily Review lists it, counts the hours, and carries the rest to tomorrow. There is nothing to tidy up on Sunday night.

The hours check

Fourteen hours of work. Six working hours to do it in.

Easier Now adds up the hours in your list, fits what it can into the working hours you have, and shows you which tasks will not fit today.

A plain list A list that only gets longer A list does not tell you how many hours of work are in it.
Easier Now Two tasks move to tomorrow You find that out in the morning, not at the end of the day.

Strict and flexible

You decide what is allowed to move.

Strict tasks are anchored to a time and stay there. Strict covers more than meetings: the school run, the dentist, feeding the cats, going to sleep, the window you keep for email. Everything flexible is fitted around them.

Tasks carry a verb and a colon, meetings do not. WRITE: the launch email needed 85 minutes and no gap was that long, so it runs as 1 of 2 and 2 of 2.

Your work is written back into Google, so the whole week sits in one place.

Running late? Press Optimise schedule and Easier Now refits what is left into the time that is actually available. Your strict commitments do not move, and anything that no longer fits today is listed separately so you can move it or drop it.

What comes next

Four things on a task decide the order.

How urgent it is, how much it matters, what an hour of that work is worth, and a purple star for the days when you already know what matters most.

Set those four on a task and you never sort the list again. The priority page shows how each one is scored.

Reading a card

What the small badges on a card mean.

A card carries how long it takes and when it is scheduled, how far behind it is running, and its deadline.
